Building a sustainable business and an eco-friendly future

Operating as a sustainable business underpins everything we do at James Tobias. Our eco-credentials are built on 30 years of business expertise and heritage. From investment in our staff and sourcing new materials, to streamlining our manufacturing facility and developing new products: we’ve earned the title ‘interior innovators’.

New product development is hugely important to our business and our clients. We recently announced a landmark new polymer board made entirely from low grade, previously unrecyclable plastic waste. The BSI has now awarded the product a Class 3 rating for BS476 part 7 “spread of flame” and is recognised as flame retardant.

Our dedication to sustainable business was recently recognised by the wider Somerset business community, when we were selected as finalists in two categories of the Somerset Business Awards: Environmental Achievement Award and Somerset Manufacturer and Producer 2021.

Accreditations with meaning

Naturally, awards are important. They energise a business internally and create trust and confidence externally, making it easier for customers to choose us.

However, a good sustainable business also needs to be compliant and James Tobias work hard to ensure our company is just that. Which is why we’re proud of the following accreditations;

  • The FSC – sourcing our materials with confidence
  • CHAS – ensures our staff are safe and the company remains compliant
  • SMAS Worksafe – maintains our robust supply chain
  • Made In Britain –  supporting domestic excellence and trade
